INTRODUCTION


Learners will be exposed to the fundamental and important elements of the Worldview and Civilization of Islam. By doing so, learners will understand, appreciate the religion of Islam rather profoundly as well as develop positive engagements in the multiculture, cosmopolitan and global city. The modules offered among others, will explore key concepts, basic principles; the knowledge framework of Islamic civilization as expressed in its philosophy, language, traditions, institutions, culture and art.

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENT


• Minimum 16 years old

• Basic Fardhu ‘ain and Qur'anic literacy

Term 1

Examination Period (March): 2 Weeks

Semester 2 :

CURICULUM SYSTEM


1. Level 1

a. Introductory

In a period of 30 weeks, participants will be introduced to various tools of learning that would assist them in their own personal investigation of the worldview and civilisation of Islam.


b. Core

In a period of 25 weeks, participants will be exposed to the fundamental elements of the metaphysical worldview of Islam vis-a-vis other worldviews and civilisations.


2. Level 2

a. Elective 1

In a period of 30 weeks, participants will undergo a more intensive thematic study of issues that are deduced from the discussion on the metaphysical worldview of Islam.


b. Elective 2

In a period of 25 weeks, participants will be exposed to how the worldview of Islam has inspired generations of Muslims, especially those in the Malay world, to develop civilisation. Participants will be engaging with various intellectual, cultural, and physical artifacts produced in the context of Islamic civilisation.

Introduction to Islam Course (IIC)

 

INTRODUCTION


The objective of this course is to introduce participants to the fundamental elements of Islam. After completing the program, the participants are able to clarify and have correct understanding about Islam and be motivated to pursue more knowledge about Islam. The program will begin with general topics extrapolating the worldview of Islam in explaining the fundamental views about God, man, nature, knowledge and any topics deemed necessarily. The second phase is the acquisition of important skill that will assist the participant to read the Qur’an and simple Arabic writing skill which will enable them to learn the advance level in certificate and diploma.

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENT


• Introductory Courses: Minimum 16 years old

• Certificate: completed introductory courses and/or basic Qur'anic literacy

• Diploma: completed certificate in islamic studies

In 2 months, the participants will learn bite size courses discussing the topics of God, creation, man and nature and any other areas deemed relevant


b. Principles

In 4 months, the participants will will learn the articles of faith and pillars of Islam


c. Practices

In 6 months, the participant will learn to read the Qur’an and perform daily 5 prayer


2. Advance Courses

a. Certificate in Islamic Studies equivalent to Sijil Pengajian Ugama

b. Diploma in Islamic Studies equivalent to Diploma Pengajian Islam

 

 

CERTIFICATION


a. The certificate will be awarded in each component and level of studies

b. The completion of the introductory level will allow the participant to continue the study into certificate and diploma level
